Celebrating Fashion with Momento Dezigns

In April this year, the world’s top luxury e-commerce destination as measured by site traffic, Farfetch, announced its plan for the store of the future. Contrary to what you might think, this new frontier of retail (think modular platforms designed to capture important customer data) will not exist online, but in the traditional brick-and-mortar store. Physical retail spaces have yet to really benefit from the digital revolution. However, with online sales of personal luxury goods set to plateau at around 20% of all sales by 2025, the physical boutique remains as important as ever. After all, no matter how… Continue Reading

Some of the New Shops Actually Coming to The Canberra Centre

So a weird thing happened to us the other day. While Team Leiden were busy scheming away, putting together our guide to all the new shops rumoured to be coming to the Canberra Centre, the Canberra Centre was busy making an official announcement about some of the new shops getting ready to open their doors. Not two hours after we published our rumour-ridden investigation did the Canberra Times break the real news. The next day we got our media release describing the Canberra Centre’s new dedicated beauty and wellness precinct set to open in July.   Here is the… Continue Reading

All the New Shops Rumoured to Be Coming to the Canberra Centre

If you live in or have visited Canberra, chances are you have been to the Canberra Centre: it’s our biggest and fanciest shopping centre after all. If you have been there in the last year you will have noticed that a good chunk of the mall has been boarded up while Centre management enacts some secret plans to unveil lots of shiny new stores. The new Beauty District has since opened but there are still plenty of boarded up shops to incite the rumour mill to run wild. Having heard a few things on the grapevine ourselves, we thought… Continue Reading

Alexa Chung The Label

After many a successful collaboration with other cool brands, it girl Alexa Chung yesterday launched her own namesake label. It all happened in a church with her friends (the likes of Daisy Lowe), her family (the Chung parents were insta story stars) and other Brit designers (Henry Holland and Emilia Wickstead) all in attendance. The presentation was also live streamed to her many adoring fans who are evidently very excited as there was a cue to get on the site all evening. Just as you might expect, the label’s first offering trades on all the tropes Chung is well known for: girly, preppy,… Continue Reading

Baby Pink Boutique

On Thursday night we braved the cold Canberra weather to attend a very special event at our new favourite boutique Baby Pink. Curated by the team behind one of our other favourite stores, Pink Ink in Braddon, Baby Pink in Deakin is a distinct space of its own. Spread across two long thin rooms, connected in the middle, is a carefully selected edit of quietly luxurious pieces calling out to be touched, tried on and taken home. The space is soft and unobtrusive, just as luxurious as the clothing that resides within it. Baby Pink is home to a… Continue Reading

Fitting in at ModCloth

It’s pretty safe to say most retailers are expanding into the digital world and increasing their online presence by making their products available online. Last year alone, online retail in Australia grew at five times that of the more traditional ‘brick and mortar’ sales. It seems counter-intuitive, then, that online retailer ModCloth would do the complete opposite. The end of 2016 marked the opening of the first ‘brick and mortar’ store for the retailer; up until then they had been doing all of their business online. The store was opened in Austin, Texas. A city known just as much… Continue Reading
