Fashionation – A Fashion Event in Cooma

When you think of Cooma, a country town in the Monaro region of New South Wales, you think of Snowy Hydro scheme. Or maybe just snow. What doesn’t immediately come to mind is fashion. But that would be your mistake because for the second time the region is hosting a fashion event. Presented by The Community Chest and sponsored by Australian Wool Innovation, Fashionation, will showcase the work of local designers as well as highlight the region’s wool industry. Wool is a highly sought after fibre in the fashion industry as it is natural, versatile and desirable. “The Monaro… Continue Reading

How to Shop the S/S 16 Season

Why are we telling you how to shop the latest Spring/Summer collections when winter is coming? This means if you like to keep up to date with the latest international fashion trends you can’t necessarily dress for the weather. But don’t worry the trends that have emerged from the S/S runways will inform what we… Continue Reading

Designer Profile: The Label

The collection shown by Canberran designer Emma O’Rourke under ‘The Label’ was one of the standouts of Canberra’s premier annual fashion event, FASHFEST. The pieces were sophisticated featuring clean lines, wearable cuts, a muted colour palette and subtle prints. I met Emma O’Rourke at the FASHFEST buying day and was instantly drawn to her warm, open personality and obvious passion for her craft. Up close the detail and work in the collection was evident and the clothes were just as desirable off the runway as they appeared on it. Emma grew up in Canberra, completing her Bachelor of Design… Continue Reading
