A Masterclass with the Oz Beauty Expert
I recently had the pleasure of attending a workshop at the Canberra Centre with the beautiful Bonnie Gilles. Bonnie is a highly regarded hair and makeup artist as well as the creator of online destination OZ Beauty Expert. Over the course of the workshop Bonnie took us through her tips and tricks for creating a natural, on-trend makeup look. I for one do not consider myself to be on trend in any aspect but I love trying new things and makeup is one thing I enjoy trying in new ways. Especially if it means I have learned a more efficient and flawless way to… Continue Reading
Review – MUD Body Mask
Mud: it gets on our boots and it’s kind of gross and messy. It is not usually something we think of when it comes to skincare. But here I am, having just rubbed mud all over my skin deliberately. Not your everyday ‘it just rained and I stepped in a puddle’ type of mud, this was a MUD (My Ultimate Detox) Original body mask. MUD’s key ingredient is bentonite clay which has an electrical charge that livens when mixed with water. This allows the clay to attract toxins and impurities out of your skin. Here is what I… Continue Reading
Review: Good Dye Young
In typical everyday life, we don’t tend to see people walking around with hair that is so bright you need sunglasses just to look at it. But why not? Well now there is nothing holding you back. Let me introduce you to Good Dye Young. Good Dye Young is a new, do-it-yourself, at home hair colour that has already made a huge impression, appearing in publications such as Nylon, Vogue and Bustle. Created by my vocal hero and hair idol, Hayley Williams, and her colourist, Brian O’Conner, this new and exciting colour range will have heads turning. Some of you… Continue Reading
How to Grow Out a Pixie Cut
So you’ve finally gotten up the courage to cut your hair to the most talked about length, the pixie. For someone like me, this requires months worth of thought and pinning images before I even consider going to the salon. When I am going for a big hair change, I always think about how it is going to grow out afterwards. A pixie cut is one of the most challenging styles to grow out, unless mullets are your thing. But when the time comes and you are ready to let it grow, it can take a lot of patience… Continue Reading
Scents and Sensibility – Candle Making with Elise Pioch
Eden is a concept created by The Canberra Centre to, as emcee Sarah Kelly puts it ‘create a chance to meditate, reflect and pause.’ The first Eden workshop, a candle making course run by boutique candle maker, Elise Pioch of Maison Balzac, took place last Saturday and we were lucky enough to attend. As we entered Eden, we were greeted with our choice of beverage. We chose to be a bit fancy and opted for the bubbly. The space felt warm and inviting, with hints of spring colours. We took our seat front and centre so we could be… Continue Reading
My Hair Story: Exploring One Girl’s Relationship with Hair
There is one question I have been asked more times than I can count: “Why do you change your hair so much?” And I never know what answer people are looking for. It has become a normal part of my life to change it up regularly. Growing up I went to a private school where it was pony tails and buns every day. There was no opportunity to have fun with my hair or experiment with it, so I never thought about it any other way. It wasn’t until my sister took me to a nice salon for my birthday… Continue Reading
