Millennial Watches

The invention of smart watches was supposed to herald the death of traditional watchmaking. But just as TV did not kill the radio star and eBooks did not destroy the paperback, smart watches have not strangled our yearning for an old school time piece.

One of the lovely perks of our job is that sometimes we get fun things to play with. At the moment we are enamoured with our Royal watch from Millennial Watches. It’s sleek and elegant in design (tick), affordable in price (double tick), and unisex (oh the sharing).

Millennial Watches was founded by a young entrepreneur,┬áRiley Tanton, from Canberra in 2015 who wanted to make elegant, high quality watches at an affordable price point. The range currently consists of seven lightweight watches with delightful names like ‘Venus’, ‘Sunrise’ and ‘Maple’.

The core design of each watch is the same, however, each style represents a different combination of band and watch case colour. Our Royal watch has a beautiful midnight blue leather strap and a rose gold case, however, for the classicists out there, there are silver and black cases, as well as black and brown straps.

As a watch is something you wear everyday it needs to be versatile. We felt our colour combo lent itself more to special occasions rather than every day wear (although the right person could definitely rock this piece everyday), so we asked six of our contributors to show us how they would rock the Royal for a night out.
