The Network of Possibility x Leiden Event

Team Leiden has joined forces with Dr Kim Vella and The Network of Possibility to bring you an inspiring evening of networking, fashion and fun on Wednesday 10 May. All net proceeds from the event and its silent auction go to the Tara Costigan Foundation so not only will you be having fun, you will be doing good for your community while you’re at it.

Our key speaker will be the talented designer Charne Esterhuizen. Charne recently presented a collection under her label MAAK at Vancouver Fashion Week and will be sharing her story with us. With a sustainable focus and an interest in technology and innovation, Charne designs and produces all garments here in Canberra.

As well as pieces from Maak, we will also be presenting jewellery from the incredible Rosie Windsor Jewels. You may have seen her beautiful pieces available in one of our favourite local boutiques, Pink Ink.

In addition to hearing from Charne, guests have the opportunity to be inspired by the lovely ladies making up the Ask Me Anything Panel.

  • Jenna Maurer: an amazing young woman who knows firsthand that a forgiving and affirming attitude towards our bodies is essential for our health and wellbeing and is on a mission to encourage this in everyone.
  • Judy Kuo: sociologist, climate justice and human rights advocate, illustrator and prolific contributor to local media.
  • Kerstin Oberprieler: dreamer, design thinker, gamification designer, martial artist, and dog-lover. Kerstin will be the guest speaker at the august Network of Possibility cocktail reception.

We have also put together a special VIP ticket offer so that not only do you gain entry to the cocktail event, you get a signed copy of Leiden’s first print publication illustrated by local artist Lexi Keelan and lots of lovely goodies just for you. If you aren’t in the mood for being a VIP, we have other ticket options as well.

And don’t forget to place a bid in our silent auction on the night, from which all proceeds go directly to the Tara Costigan Foundation. We have some very special donations from local businesses run by kick-ass girl bosses: 8 Stems, Lilah Gow Makeup Artistry, Art by Lexi, and 6th Position.

Emma Batchelor

As well as a near obsessive interest in fashion, Emma is a former scientist, occasional contemporary dancer, avid reader and self-confessed cat lady (she has three). Emma lived in Leiden in the Netherlands as a baby and Leiden ought to have been her middle name had her mother thought of it at the time and not chosen Louise instead.
