You know we like to write but did you we like to read? Just like our old friend C.S Lewis, you can’t find a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit us. Which is why we are starting a book club, the Leiden Book Club to be exact.
Here’s how it works: Leiden Book Club is for everyone. Each month we will read a fab book and then we will talk about how fab (or not) it is. Then at the end of each month we will post an article and some talking points on our website, ready to get literary discussion ball rolling. We encourage you to join the conversation and leave your thoughts in the comments.
Are you excited yet? Wait until you see our reading list.
March: Great Expectations – Charles Dickens
April: The Fountainhead – Ayn Rand
May: The Course of Love – Alain de Boton
June: A Life in Frocks – Kelly Doust
July: Lolita – Vladimir Nabokov
August: Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World that can’t Stop Speaking – Susan Cain
September: The Wonder – Emma Donoghue
October: Swing Time – Zadie Smith
November: Persuasion – Jane Austen
December: Norwegian Wood – Haruki Murakami
Leiden Book Club is by no means compulsory. Dip in and out as you need to but try not to get ahead. If you have read a book before, you are of course welcome to skip out for a month but instead we suggest having a re-read and wowing us all with your superior analysis.
Happy reading. Nothing is better than curling up with a good book and a cup of tea after all.
Hi. How do I join the Bookclub?
Hi! We read a different book each month and then at the end of the month our Book Club leader Gen posts her review and some discussion questions. Just jump in whenever suits you and read along with us. You can answer the discussion questions or share your thoughts on each book in the comments of the article and we will jump in and discuss with you! Our next book is The Wonder – Emma Donoghue.
