I recently moved into my new house and am still in the throes of setting up my dressing room. I have things everywhere including at my mums. I had dreams of revolutionising my wardrobe and the way I dress as soon as I moved in however, as with most things I highly anticipate, my plan was not as instantaneous in its execution as I had intended.
Nevertheless I have managed to pull together a few rather special outfits from among the chaos this month.
The Party Dress
Dress: Kenzo x H&M
Shoes: Burberry
The Look: I am a big Kenzo fan and was excited to hear of the Parisian labels’ collaboration with H&M. My friend Becca brought me this dress home from New York and I was also lucky enough to have my friend Kara get me some pants in Melbourne. I love the over the top print and outsize proportions.
Weekend Luxe
Top: Vintage Chanel blouse
Skirt: Country Road suede skirt
Bag: Gucci
Sandals: Miu Miu
The Look: I took my boyfriend Jesse to Melbourne for his birthday (also on the agenda was the Viktor and Rolf exhibition) and wanted to put together a luxe casual look. I wear this Chanel blouse a lot but mostly tucked in, so to change it up I decided to play with the old half tuck seen on many an instagram star.
On the Prairie
Sunglasses: Miu Miu
Dress: Alexa Chung for AG jeans
Sandals: Miu Miu
The Look: I am rather partial to this dress but am always slightly disappointed that I don’t quite look the way Alexa Chung herself does when she wears it. My boyfriend absolutely despises this dress and won’t even kiss me when I wear it. I, however don’t let a trifle like that stop me.
Clueless
Bralet: Cue
T-shirt: Casa Kuma
Skirt: Vintage Chanel
Shoes: Burberry (you can tell I haven’t unpacked all my shoes can’t you?)
Bag: Vintage Louis Vuitton
The Look: I recently attended the David Jones Season Launch in Sydney and put this little Clueless inspired number together. You will have no doubt noticed on Instagram the current fascination with sticking a t-shirt under anything and everything which, as someone who prefers to cover up, is a trend I can get behind.
The Power of Pink
Top: Topshop Unique
Skirt: Alexa Chung x AG Jeans suede skirt
Shoes: MR by ManRepeller
The Look: Pink is my favourite colour and I love clashing it with my red hair. I felt like a 80s glamour superstar in this top but I got a horrific blister from these shoes. When I put this photo on Instagram, Leandra Cohen (nee Medine, my queen) liked the photo and I nearly died of happiness.
Lady in Red
Jacket and Dress: Simone Rocha x J Brand
Shoes: Charlotte Olympia
The Look: After pink, red is my next favourite colour. I love Simone Rocha and everything she does and when I heard about her collaboration with J Brand I was poised and ready to scoop up these two pieces the minute they became available on Net-a-Porter. I had intended to wear different shoes but my blister situation has got my stuck in backless shoes. I also stuck a white t-shirt under this dress and turned it red. Woops.
Statement Sleeves
Sunglasses: Miu Miu
Top: Topshop
Skirt: Alexa Chung x AG Jeans
Shoes: Topshop
Bag: Gucci
The Look: I have been lusting over a very similar shirt by Sandy Liang for ages but couldn’t afford it, so instead I got the next best thing: the Topshop knock-off. Same with these Topshop shoes, they are the knock-off equivalent of a pair of Gucci heeled loafers and Miu Miu brocade shoes having a baby.
