Alexa Chung x Marks and Spencer Archives

It-girl and ultimate style crush Alexa Chung has joined forces with British retail giant Marks and Spencer to create a capsule collection inspired by their fashion archives. In collaboration with the M&S design team, Chung has given a modern update to 31 pieces including dresses, separates, outerwear and shoes, all at an affordable price.

Key items include the Victorian inspired blouse seen above also re-imagined as a dress (do those ruffles remind anyone else of Miu Miu?), a 1950’s inspired trench and an updated 1980’s blazer.

So how do you get your hands on this hot collab? The good news is that you don’t even need to go all the way to England to bring yourself home a piece. You can now shop Marks and Spencer online in Aussie dollars as well as receive complimentary shipping to Australia.

The collection has received a mixed response; most have loved it while others have commented that the original pieces that inspired the collection were better than the modernised updates.

The point of this exercise as we see it, was not to reproduce exact replicas of pieces from the Marks and Spencer archive, it was to allow one individual to present their take on the archive for a modern context. At the end of the day Chung has created what is ultimately an edit of timeless pieces perfect for blending into your existing wardrobe.
