My Favourite Beauty Ritual with Bicky Lee

For me, the pamper routine is less of a Sunday afternoon in the tub and is more just taking good care of myself regularly. I am all about the inexpensive, easy, and nourishing rituals. I have detailed below my routine, except, you should know that I never have time to do all of these things at once. But, if I did, here is what I would do:

Skin Treatment

I do a skin treatment about once a month or whenever my skin has a major freak out. Before my shower, I wash my face with a warm face flannel and I exfoliate with the Sukin Purifying Body Scrub.  Once I have washed this off with warm water, I apply my Lush Catastrophe Cosmetic Face Mask and I keep this on my face for about ten minutes.

Hair Treatment

While the mask is still on my face, I take out my hair and melt a spoonful of virgin Coconut Oil using the heat of my hands. I then massage the oil into the bottom third of my hair. I leave this oil in my hair for the last few minutes of the face mask, right up until I get in the shower.

Shower Time

As soon as I get in the shower I wet my hair thoroughly and wash the face mask off. To wash my hair, I use the Lush solid shampoo Trichomania. This shampoo is my BFF.

I lather the solid shampoo in my hands and then apply it to the top third of my hair. As I rinse it out under the water I massage my scalp and go to my happy place. The shampoo will cleanse the ends of my hair as it is rinsed out.

While I am in the shower I wash myself with the Lush Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly. If I am showering in the evening and just getting straight into bed, I will also condition my skin in the shower. To do this I take my exfoliating glove and I put a spoonful of coconut oil into the gloved hand and melt it with my body heat. Then, I simply rub the glove all over my body leaving my skin coated in a thin layer of moisture.

After The Shower

Once I get out of the shower I dry my hair with a towel (not heat styling for me) and pat-dry my body.

If I have any particularly dry patches or eczema on my skin, I take some Vanilla Sportsgirl body butter and I spread this on the area and then I spread a layer of Papaw cream or Vaseline on top of the body butter area. This seals in the moisture into the skin so that it cannot evaporate out as quickly. I put the Thank You Body Lotion with Botanical Mint and Spring Flowers on my face because it is very soothing and good for the planet.

I put on my Peter Alexander summer playsuit and Sussan dressing gown and I set up my humidifier that I got from Muji. I fill it with water and then a few drops of an essential oil. This helps my skin and my mind be happy.

Dealing With My Hair

I take my Lush R&B Hair Moisturiser and spread a small amount through the bottom two thirds of my hair. I comb my hair with a wide toothed comb to detangle. I gently french braid my hair and tie it off with one of the telephone cord hair ties.

A Clean Slate

If I have just done a skin treatment and the sheets on my bed are more than a few days old I change the sheets and pillowcases on my bed. These means I won’t re-aggravate any pimples on my skin and lessens the amount of gross bacteria that my skin is exposed to.

I also clean my make-up brushes before using them again after a skin treatment.  There are many tutorials on how to do this on Youtube using household products. I do this to prevent bacteria building up in the brushes and getting into my pores.

Olive Leaf Extract was initially used to cure fever but if taken regularly it boosts your immune system. I try to take a couple of Olive Leaf Extract tablets every other day to boost my immune system.

Nails and Teeth

Sometimes I watch one of the Harry Potter films and do my nails. I have been really enjoying the Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy nail polish because the colour is called Winning Streak and it is one of my favourite colours. I also use the Revitanail Instant Dry Drops which makes your nails dry super fast.

Every night I floss and then clean my teeth with my Oral B Electric Toothbrush. I use the Colgate Sensitive Whitening toothpaste as recommended to me by my dentist.

I drink lots of water and use lots of lip balm. Before I go to sleep I like to meditate for 10 to 20 minutes.

Self care is really important for your physical being as well as your mental being. These things all make me feel nice so even if I can only do one of these things at any chosen time, it makes all the difference.
