What We Wore to FASHFEST Night 3

We love any excuse to dress up and FASHFEST provides us with an opportunity to do just that. On Night 3 of the festival, we ate doughnuts, drank cocktails from a mini goon-bag, and enjoyed the runway shows.       To see what happened on the runway catch up on our runway reports for Show 5 and Show 6.   Team Leiden on the night consisted of Emma Batchelor, Jesse Petrie, Lexi Keelan, Sheree Yap and Johanna Dziadkiewicz who is also the offical FASHFEST illustrator.

What We Wore to FASHFEST Night 2

As previously discussed in our guide to event dressing ie. not giving a fuck what anybody else thinks, part of the fun of attending a fashion event is appreciating what everyone else is wearing. Unfortunately on this night, we got carried away faffing around the foyer that we didn’t capture as many beautifully dressed people as we would have liked. We did come across one of our lovely competition winners on the red carpet, as well as other lovely friends of Leiden which was a delight.       To see what happened on the runway catch up on… Continue Reading

How Not to Give a Fuck When Dressing for a Fashion Event

A fashion event calls for attendees to bring their sartorial A-game. The fashion choices made by the editors, bloggers and insiders who attend the shows have become an important part of the fashion week cycle. Over the years we have seen the amount of content produced about ‘street style’ increase to rival that produced about the runway. To enjoy street style success you must simultaneously showcase your ability to mix high with low, create unexpected combinations of the everyday with the opulent and procure cult, hard to find accessories. So with all this pressure to look your absolute best,… Continue Reading

Personal Style File – Nina Gbor

Name: Nina Gbor What I do: Eco Stylist (Personal stylist with a focus on sustainability)   Describe your Personal Style My personal style is an eclectic mix of vintage and contemporary pieces that I style in dramatic, feminine, edgy and creative looks. I like bright, bold colours and unusual pieces that are not on-trend. I wear a lot of full circle vintage dresses from the 40s and 50s for instance. Everything I wear is a reflection of how I’m feeling or something to make me happy.   What pieces are on high rotation in your wardrobe? Usually dresses that… Continue Reading

How To Style – 5 Ways with a Bum Bag

I have recently become enamoured with the bumbag, much to my de-facto husband’s disgust. I should say re-enamoured because as a child of the 90s, I’m almost certain I had, and loved, one back in the day. I can pinpoint the key moments that put the bag most commonly associated with sock and sandle wearing tourists back on my sartorial radar; the Gucci AW17 collection, the associated Gucci campaign, and a re-watch of one of my all-time favourite TV shows The Nanny. Grandma Yetta, whose fanny pack is permanently strapped to her waist, is one of my style icons. After… Continue Reading

There Is A New Market In Town – Canberra Style Market

Who doesn’t love going to the markets on a weekend? Wandering through the stalls coffee in hand, seeking out vintage finds, perhaps snapping up a bargain. But what about getting a manicure? Or perhaps taking a shopping break to relax with a glass of champagne? These aren’t activities you necessarily associate with your typical market visit. All that is about to change with the arrival of a new market to Canberra, Canberra Style Market, which will uniquely bring together fashion, beauty, health, fitness, wellness and luxurious VIP experiences all in the same place. Ahead of the first market on… Continue Reading

The Obligatory First Day of Spring Wardrobe Reflection

Today is the first day of spring. I know you are thinking ‘not another person celebrating the change of season’ but as someone who lives to get dressed, I’m sorry, but I am going to reflect on the sartorial possibilities the warmer weather will bring. Here is what I am looking forward to:   Bare Legs   After months of cocooning my unshaven legs in stockings, I am looking forward to being able to let my legs see the light of day again. I had to go all the way back to April to find a photo of me exposing… Continue Reading
