Rounding out our coverage of fashion month comes our favourite collections from Paris fashion week, accompanied by illustrations from our very own Judy Kuo. Balenciaga The debut collection from Demna Gvasalia (of Vetements fame) was one of the most hotly anticipated of Paris fashion week. Anyone who feared that the house signatures of Christobal Balanciage would be lost or muddied by street-wear influence could breathe a sigh of relief after the first look appeared on the runway. Opera coats, trapeze dresses, bubble skirts, and cocoon coats were all given a Vetements-style update (an opera coat/puffa jacket worn by… Continue Reading

Milan Fashion Week – A/W 16/17
It feels like a change has been brewing in the Italian fashion capital and we are loving it. As the latest fashion week approaches, we look back on our favourite collections from the Autumn/Winter collections, accompanied by incredible illustrations from Johanna Dziadkiewicz. Elisabetta Franchi For her Autumn/Winter collection, the designer experimented with colours and shapes inspired by the circus. High waisted trousers, military style coats, knee high boots and flowing dresses all featured heavily. As the show progressed, the colour palette changed from browns, blacks, and creams to vibrant reds, blues, stripes, and high shine fabrics working their… Continue Reading
London Fashion Week – A/W 16/17
After New York, the next stop on the fashion circuit is London, home of quirk, eccentricity and plenty of colour. We have rounded up our favourite shows from the season accompanied by incredible illustrations by the multi-talented designer behind The Label, Emma O’Rourke. Alexander McQueen This season saw Alexander McQueen return home to London after showing in Paris for many years. Creative Director, Sarah Burton, chose the same venue (the Royal Horticultural Halls) for the label’s homecoming as the first McQueen show she had worked on twenty years ago. This stand out collection was perhaps Burton’s most… Continue Reading
New York Fashion Week – A/W 16/17
While the fashion crowd was busy attending shows and having their street style snapped last international fashion month, we were busy launching our publication. But don’t worry we were still keeping our eyes trained to the runways as you may have seen on our Instagram. Now that all those covetable collections are hitting stores we are wrapping up our favourite shows of the season instead of putting together our usual runway report. Coach This season creative director Stuart Vevers looked to America itself for inspiration. What he came up with was a covetable collection of wearable pieces with an… Continue Reading

Designer Profile: Ben Lalic
It’s no secret that the National Graduate Showcase is always at the top of my festival list, and Target’s third outing at VAMFF this year was no exception. With a tantalising group of twelve stellar graduates from around the country; the colour, texture, and pattern were exactly the artistic level of creativity that make me love this event. One designer in particular caught my eye this year with cleverly cut weaves in an athletically inspired collection, UTS graduate Ben Lalic. After the festival I was lucky enough to interview Lalic and learn more about the man behind the label.… Continue Reading
Why I love being a Beauty Advisor
It all started when I was 4 years old. My Mother has a photo of me sitting on her gold wire and purple faux fur vintage chair brushing my golden curly hair. In her vintage dressing table drawer, she kept a few beauty products I became obsessed with as soon as I could appreciate them. The first, a strawberry scented rollerball lipgloss from the 1970s that smelled so delicious, it also doubled as my personal lollipop. The second, a Helena Rubenstein white compact containing a deep dusty pink cheek blush otherwise known as “rouge” at the time and the… Continue Reading
Invest In Black Pants
This piece of advice is definitely one to take on board. Investing in a good quality pair of black pants is a must. Not only is black slimming but it essentially goes with everything. A black trouser can be dressed up or down, be just as at home in the office or at after work drinks. Look for good quality fabrics and a timeless flattering fit. Make sure to care for them properly and a versatile piece such as this will last you for years. So do as our illustrator Johanna says, go forth and invest. After all you don’t… Continue Reading
