There is nothing quite like an event created by a kick-arse woman for kick-arse women. The supremely lovely Georgie King (founding director of GLK Nanny’s and co-founder of The Womens Collective) has been working hard behind the scenes to put together The Big Conference, an annual event designed to help women strengthen their business ideas, connect with likeminded people, as well as receive invaluable advice from a roster of local and interstate businesswomen and leaders. A ticket to The Big Conference will give you access to five key speakers, an influencer panel discussion, interactive displays, delicious food and the chance to network… Continue Reading

Book Lunch: I Love Who I Am – Igniting Self Worth
At Leiden we declare this month Self Love September! That’s right we are dedicating the entire month to investigating and celebrating our bods and what’s inside our bods no matter what form it takes. We recently found out about the launch of a new book that is right up our alley. Canberra author Rachael Torrealba’s new tome I Love Who I am: Igniting Self – Worth is a match made in heaven for Self Love September. When Rachel encountered the grief of being alienated from her children after a marriage break-up, she couldn’t contemplate reading a single page.… Continue Reading
Swap Style Love – A Clothes Swap Event
Fast fashion can make us feel like clothing is disposable. Is this scenario familiar? Heidi bought a dress to wear out to a party last week and is now sick of it, but hey, it only cost $40 so it’s no big deal to her so she chucks it out. Just imagine if everyone in Australia did that to just one item? In Australia, we generate 6000 kilograms of clothing waste every 10 minutes (ABC TV). Only a comparatively small percentage of what we donate to charity shops gets sold with the rest ending up in landfill. So what… Continue Reading

A Ball to Stop Bullying
A little while ago we introduced you to Ashlee de Silva, a finalist in the Miss Australia International pageant. Ashlee is continuing her hard work raising awareness about the negative effect of bullying and will be hosting a ball at Kyte in Canberra on Saturday 11 November. The event will raise money for The Alannah and Madeline Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation working to protect children from the affects of violence and bullying. Natural Beauty with Lola Berry
We have been lucky enough to experience a number of amazing events at the Canberra Centre since the launch of its new beauty precinct. We’ve been to a Sip and Scent masterclass, a workshop on Minimal Beauty and on Sunday we popped along to hear nutritionist, yogi, TV presenter and author Lola Berry speak on natural beauty and nutrition. As soon as we lined up to receive our delicious smoothie (no doubt made from Lola’s recipes) and take out seat, we noticed a different vibe in the dedicated event space compared to the day before. Lola was casually lounging… Continue Reading
