My Experience with Fillers and Plastic Surgery

Since my late teens, I was constantly told that I looked tired. With makeup or without it and I know so many other women who hate being told that. I look like me! That’s what I wanted to yell at them. I got 8-10 hours sleep a night, in my case, my genetics would let me down. On my mum’s side of the family everyone had very deep baggy under-eyes so I couldn’t do anything about it… at least that’s what I thought. There are so many procedures that are invasive and non-invasive that you can do to help… Continue Reading

Product Review: Black Chicken Remedies AXILLA Deodorant Paste

Over these past few years I’ve been searching for products that are not harmful to others and therefore not harmful to me, a transition and conscious decision to no longer use products tested on animals and now products that contain ingredients that I can pronounce. Your skin is your biggest organ so I began there, with face wash, moisturisers and then deodorant. My boyfriend at the time had never used deodorant as he detested the classic teenage boy gassing of LYNX and insisted on spritzing his underarms with Burberry until he discovered Aseop’s deodorant. That’s where I started. My… Continue Reading

Product Review: Magnetic Lashes

I put magnets on my eyes because someone said it’d make me look pretty. And so what I should actually be doing right now is having a good long look at myself because, really? But also, and though it shames me a bit to admit this, that’s not even close to the craziest thing I’ve done in search of purchasable perfection. So, look… I saw this Instagram ad for magnetic eyelashes and I was like, yes*. I’d tried and failed at the glue on ones and I wasn’t ready to commit to the longer-lasting beautician applied fakies, so this… Continue Reading

Chronicle of a Floater

By now you have probably heard the hype about floatation therapy. All the kids are doing it and raving about how it’s wonderful for your mind and body. Being the curious and open-minded person that I am I embarked on a journey to find out more. My first impression was that ‘floating’ is just jumping into a salty bath and that I would come out with super powers. Then I was lucky enough to meet the beautiful married couple who own the newly opened Pure Zen Floatation rooms in Phillip. Stacey, the owner, told me how she was recommended… Continue Reading

Treatment Review: Microblading

I’m not sure about you but I’ve always had a bit of an obsession with brows.   When I found out about feather tattoo and microblading, I was intrigued. My first thoughts were of my mum’s friends with their blue stained tattoo brows which I definitely was not a fan of. Microblading or feathering tattoos have come a long way since then. Rather than a solid block of colour, hair strokes are drawn on, mimicking natural brow hairs. I recently did mine and cannot be happier. I do not need to fill in my brows any more as I wake… Continue Reading

Period Panties – 9.5 new age nappies out of 10

Have you ever thought about how much waste you (I’m presuming only females are reading this) produce every month from your period? Think of the amount of tampons and pads you go through just in those 4-7 days! Now times that by twelve and then times that by the number of adult females in the world… that’s a lot of gross waste hanging about the earth. It’s become clear that something needs to be done and unlike plastic bags, the solution isn’t as easy as just stop selling them. That would end in disaster. And a lot of blood… Continue Reading

Review – MUD Body Mask

Mud: it gets on our boots and it’s kind of gross and messy. It is not usually something we think of when it comes to skincare. But here I am, having just rubbed mud all over my skin deliberately. Not your everyday ‘it just rained and I stepped in a puddle’ type of mud, this was a MUD (My Ultimate Detox) Original body mask. MUD’s key ingredient is bentonite clay which has an electrical charge that livens when mixed with water. This allows the clay to attract toxins and impurities out of your skin.   Here is what I… Continue Reading

The Perfection of Style

A wonderful new exhibition displaying a beautiful collection of the seminal designer Yves Saint Laurent came to my hometown, Seattle, this October. The Seattle Art Museum is host to this inspiring collection featuring over 110 complete outfits spanning more than 40 years of Laurent’s career. The outfits ranged Laurent’s innovative ready-to-wear collections to custom made couture pieces. YSL saved everything when he started his own fashion house in 1962, the collection features an amazing range of outfit sketches and fabric samples, giving an incredible insight into his creative process. From the moment I entered the exhibition rooms I was… Continue Reading
