Name: Nina Gbor

What I do: Eco Stylist (Personal stylist with a focus on sustainability)

Describe your Personal Style

My personal style is an eclectic mix of vintage and contemporary pieces that I style in dramatic, feminine, edgy and creative looks. I like bright, bold colours and unusual pieces that are not on-trend. I wear a lot of full circle vintage dresses from the 40s and 50s for instance. Everything I wear is a reflection of how I’m feeling or something to make me happy.

What pieces are on high rotation in your wardrobe?

Usually dresses that go with a petticoat! In particular three of my 50s vintage dresses all in a similar style. One is in a pink, green & white pattern with a bateau neckline and short sleeves, the second is a white dress with little black velvet polka dots and puffy short sleeves with round collar and the third dress is a lime greenish cotton dress with eyelet embroidered-edge holes and very short edged sleeves. I also have a long sleeve cashmere sweater dress I wear a lot with leggings and boots.

What are you favourite labels, who are your favourite designers?

Favourite labels: Pure Pod – Sustainable, MAAK and Etiko Fairtrade.

Favourite designers: Vicky Kidd-Gallichan, Kelli Donovan, Charne Esterhuizen and Yumi Morrisey

How do you approach dressing?

I like to wear whatever will keep me in a great mood all day. I also try to make sure everything in my wardrobe gets worn.

What pieces do you never wear but hold onto “just in case”?

An amaranth pink colour, Disney-cinderella ball gown with an ankle-length big full skirt. I found it in an op shop in the UK 7 years ago.

How do approach shopping for clothes and accessories?

I go for unusual pieces that I don’t see very often. I’m drawn to vintage shopping because you find clothes and accessories of great quality that have lasted decades. They’re beautiful, special and different from the contemporary mass produced fashion trends.

Where are your favourite places to shop?

Preloved markets, vintage stores, clothes swaps, op shops and yard sales.

What is on your current shopping list?

A fabulous, warm coat I can wear with anything.

What item do you dream of owning?

Anything from Carrie Bradshaw’s Paris wardrobe in season 6 of Sex & the City! Especially the iconic Versace mille feuille dress and the mint-hued tutu dress.

Who’s personal style do you most admire?

I really like my style cause it’s such an expression of who I am and it makes me happy being in my own skin. Carrie Bradshaw also has a feminine, edgy, eclectic and varied style that’s amazing.
