Christmas with a few of Leiden’s Contributors
This time of year looks different for everyone. For some, Christmas means spending time with family. For others it might mean running from one obligation to another, trying to hit as many celebrations in one day as possible. Christmas may mean spending time with friends, heading to church, eating far too much or it might just be another public holiday. We asked a few of our Contributors what the holiday season means to them. Emma Batchelor For me Christmas time is family time. We have lunch with my Nanny and Poppy who live just next door and… Continue Reading
Archibald Prize Regional Tour
Amongst the fifty-one faces portrayed in this years crop of paintings was that of Canberra born dancer and choreographer, James Batchelor, painted by Melbourne artist Marcus Wills. While Louise Hearman’s portrait of Barry Humphries took out the prize, our favourite of Batchelor was highly commended alongside a portrait of Wendy Whitley by Natasha Bieniek. For those unable to make it to the Art Gallery of NSW to see all 51 finalists, the Archibald Prize has now set off on a regional tour, giving thousands more people the opportunity to interact with the art produced for this prestigious prize.… Continue Reading

Gut Reactions
Not a week goes by when I don’t talk to someone who has some type of issue with their gut, or someone who has eliminated complete foods or foods groups in the belief it causes an upset stomach. Being an inquisitive type, I like to find out more information on the person so I would ask do they know which foods cause the symptoms, how long do the symptoms last for and does it cause other symptoms? Our bodies are amazing things but not all are the same. In the area of nutrition some people can have a range… Continue Reading
Herbosophy — My New Favourite Herb Supplier
I’ve been taking natural herbal supplements for as long as I can remember. However, they can be expensive and it is often time consuming to find organic and unrefined products. I recently discovered an online herb supplier, Herbosophy. A family run business in Perth, Western Australia, Herbosophy offers a range of quality herbs that are encapsulated on order. This means you are receiving the most fresh and pure herbs that are filler and preservative free. Their range is diverse, with herbs I’ve never heard of before on offer. Whilst I recommend consulting a healthcare professional before commencing a new… Continue Reading
A Champagne Masterclass with the Champagne Dame Kyla Kirkpatrick
A little while a go we had the pleasure of attending a champagne masterclass at the Canberra Centre hosted by the rather incredible former banker and financier turned ultimate champagne dame Kyla Kirkpatrick. Not being much of a drinker myself, champagne or otherwise, my excitement level, while ample, were not at the level they might have been at, say, the opening of a new shoe store. Nevertheless, once I took my seat, feasted my eyes on the beautiful glasswear, sweet treats and the dame herself, I felt a familiar thrill of anticipation bubbling up inside me. After being introduced to… Continue Reading
