London Fashion Week – A/W 16/17

After New York, the next stop on the fashion circuit is London, home of quirk, eccentricity and plenty of colour. We have rounded up our favourite shows from the season accompanied by incredible illustrations by the multi-talented designer behind The Label, Emma O’Rourke.   Alexander McQueen   This season saw Alexander McQueen return home to London after showing in Paris for many years. Creative Director, Sarah Burton, chose the same venue (the Royal Horticultural Halls) for the label’s homecoming as the first McQueen show she had worked on twenty years ago. This stand out collection was perhaps Burton’s most… Continue Reading

That Bitch Called Anxiety

Anxiety. You know it well. That bitch of a disorder that many of us are all too familiar with and feel we can’t really talk about.    Why? Judgement, fear, perception. It’s an invisible condition so it mustn’t be real. You’re just a drama queen/king. Well, people that have never suffered anxiety will probably see it this way and I’m sure you’ve been on the receiving end of this if you’ve experienced anxiety. Friendships, family, work, thoughts, social media. They’re all triggers and sometimes nothing triggers it at all because anxiety is an irrational bitch that can strike at… Continue Reading

New York Fashion Week – A/W 16/17

While the fashion crowd was busy attending shows and having their street style snapped last international fashion month, we were busy launching our publication. But don’t worry we were still keeping our eyes trained to the runways as you may have seen on our Instagram. Now that all those covetable collections are hitting stores we are wrapping up our favourite shows of the season instead of putting together our usual runway report.   Coach This season creative director Stuart Vevers looked to America itself for inspiration. What he came up with was a covetable collection of wearable pieces with an… Continue Reading

Black Box; Life, Walls and Houses – Judi Elliott

The cycle of life is a common source of inspiration for many artists. No one has perhaps examined this universal subject in quite the way highly acclaimed glass artist Judi Elliott has. Known for her innovative approach to working with the medium, Judi’s pieces are highly recognisable and sought after. She has exhibited work both in Australia and overseas, and was the first glass graduate from the ANU School of Art. Her latest exhibition, Black Box; Life, Walls and Houses examines the black box. This critical device sits within an aircraft, recording the details of each flight it makes,… Continue Reading

Thermae Bath Spa

Bath, a picturesque city about an hour west of London, is what is known affectionately as a spa town. The name sounds luxurious doesn’t it? It conjures up images of being pampered and having a good time. The city of Bath dates back to Roman England, when it was named Aquae Sulis for the geothermal hot springs in the area. The Romans built a large temple and bath complex to both worship and make use of these precious mineral waters. Bath next hit its peak during the Georgian period when it was fashionable for those with health complaints to… Continue Reading

Undressed: A Brief History of Underwear

Our wardrobe of underwear can say a lot about our attitude to dressing. Today you would be safe in assuming that someone with a drawer full of identical versions of the same pair of black pants might not put quite the same amount of effort into creating an outfit as someone with a drawer bursting at the seams with french knickers, g-strings, boy legs and high-waisted lace panties made up in an extensive variety of patterns and fabrics. However, in the 18th century say, the underwear of every woman looked essentially the same no matter her station in life… Continue Reading

Get Ready, It’s Time to Fly

South America is filled with sacred valleys, unique cuisine, ancient myths and a vibrant, spirited culture. In the midst of the 2016 Rio Olympic games, I feel it’s right to share my love and experiences visiting this exotic continent. The plan to travel to South America sprung upon me. It wasn’t somewhere I thought I’d visit for quite some time. However, as my brother was living in Brazil, the opportunity awaited. We started off in Lima, Peru. Our G Adventures tour took us from the Amazon to the Andes, the animated town of Cusco, Ollantaytambo, and of course, Machu Picchu.… Continue Reading
