Kenzo x H&M

Remember the first sell out collaboration  between retail giant H&M and Alexander Wang? It was the first collaboration we had access to here in Australia and lines outside the Melbourne flagship started the night before the collection launched. What about the hysteria surrounding the most recent H&M collaboration with Balmain? This time crowds hit both Sydney and Melbourne to get their hands on a piece of #HMBalmaination. Well get ready for further frenzy because the latest collab has just been announced. H&M is partnering with Parisienne house Kenzo to bring the masses a covetable collection of clothing and accessories… Continue Reading

Daphne Guinness in Conversation

Isabella Blow was a British fashion stylist, editor and muse who nurtured the career of many designers including the late Alexander McQueen and Phillip Treacy. She was passionate, creative and eccentric with a great love of fashion. When Isabella Blow passed away, her friend Daphne Guinness purchased her entire collection of clothes, a portion of which was first displayed in an exhibition at Somerset House in London and now in Sydney at the Powerhouse Museum. To celebrate the opening of Isabella Blow: A Fashionable Life at the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, British artist and muse Daphne Guinness… Continue Reading

Isabella Blow: A Fashionable Life

The latest fashion exhibition to feature at the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, or Powerhouse Museum as we have all grown up knowing it, is an intimate celebration of the late fashion great, Isabella Blow. Isabella Blow: A Fashionable Life presents a smaller curated selection of the 500 pieces purchased by Daphne Guiness after Blow’s passing. Guiness couldn’t bear the thought of her close friend’s clothes being auctioned off and split up so she purchased the collection in full. ‘It’s the story of a life lived in these clothes’ said Guiness of the exhibition at a talk held… Continue Reading

How To Shop for a new Fragrance

In my daily life as Beauty Personal Shopping Queen, I often meet people who want me to help them find a fragrance “I need a fragrance for my wedding” or “I want to smell like a chocolate coated musk stick” or “I want a coffee scent with a heart note of cigarettes” is often what I hear. OK, the last two are a slight embellishment, but I do hear some quirky requests and let me tell you, I am happy to oblige and show off my fragrance knowledge in these instances. Buying fragrance is an emotional purchase and very personal. It… Continue Reading

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia

Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival is in full swing with the fash-pack out in force, strutting the streets of Sydney one designer heel after another. This year the festival has moved from April to May to align itself with the International Resort Season in hopes of attracting more international attention. Australians often have a unique perspective on fashion, partly due to our isolation from the four fashion capitals, and partly due to our unique culture. Australian fashion is often regarded as sexy, athletic and relaxed but it is so much more than that. Designers, models, buyers, influencers, editors, and bloggers have… Continue Reading

A Beauty Masterclass with Eleanor Pendleton of Gritty Pretty

On a cold, foggy Saturday morning, I was lucky enough to attend a beauty masterclass lead by Gritty Pretty editor, Eleanor Pendleton, at the Canberra Centre. Eleanor was warm, open and fun, it was a pleasure to hear her speak about herself, her business and all things beauty. Like most of us, Eleanor’s first beauty memories are associated with her mum. ‘She had a morning ritual of moisturising from head to toe’ she laughs. ‘I’m also one of two sisters; we were always playing with makeup.’ In her teen years Eleanor described herself as a bit of a tomboy… Continue Reading

Designer Profile: Ben Lalic

It’s no secret that the National Graduate Showcase is always at the top of my festival list, and Target’s third outing at VAMFF this year was no exception. With a tantalising group of twelve stellar graduates from around the country; the colour, texture, and pattern were exactly the artistic level of creativity that make me love this event. One designer in particular caught my eye this year with cleverly cut weaves in an athletically inspired collection, UTS graduate Ben Lalic. After the festival I was lucky enough to interview Lalic and learn more about the man behind the label.… Continue Reading

Eyelash and Eyebrow Tinting – The Lazy Girls Guide to Great Eyes

I love eyebrows. They are definitely my favourite feature on women. I could stare at Lily Collin’s bold brows all day long. However, with my fair hair, there is no way I could ever achieve such magnificent brows without pots of eyebrow gel and a few dozen brow pencils. Whilst I could spend 15 minutes a day perfecting my brows with expensive products, I am the quintessential lazy makeup-wearer who simply doesn’t have the patience (or skill) to totally nail the bold brow look by myself. After all, it’s a very fine line between having bold eyebrows and just… Continue Reading
