The Lo Down on Lashes

I first dabbled in cosmetics in my college years. To begin with, all I had in my possession was some mascara and black kohl. As you can imagine, I had little to work with, but this didn’t stop me from jumping onto my computer and introducing myself to the makeup gurus of YouTube. Over the years my makeup collection grew and my eyes were opened to brands such as Urban Decay and Mac. In a literal sense too, my eyes were also opened because god knows what miracles a little mascara can do, yes, you know what I’m talking about… Continue Reading

Fashfest Model Casting

Modelling is often perceived as easy; some think all you need is to be young, thin and pretty and that’s about it. But in reality the life of a model is not always as glamorous as Instagram may have you believe. It’s not all parties, red carpet appearances and getting paid $400k for 24 hours of work (aka Bella Hadid at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia), it’s hard. There are early starts, plenty of waiting around, being pushed and pulled and judged. Last weekend over five hundred hopeful models attended the Fashfest model casting, a record for the Canberra… Continue Reading

That Sugar Article

I have a confession to make, I didn’t rush out to watch the ‘That Sugar Film’ when it was released. Now I know what you’re thinking, as a nutritionist, why wasn’t I one of the first to go and see the movie? Well there is one reason for this and that is I think sugar cops way too much flak. Computer Programmers are Supermodels not Geeks

Gone are the days when the programmer/ computer scientist was a stereotyped weirdo with no social skills and most often thought of as male. This stereotype was shattered by supermodel Karlie Kloss who has taught herself how to code (the skills behind becoming a programmer) and is now sponsoring a program to get young girls in the United States into coding. Kloss, of Victoria’s Secret fame,  says coding is a superpower and opens an unlimited amount of doors and girls need to be encouraged into the field as they are currently under-represented. I can also say I am breaking… Continue Reading
